A Self-Love Ritual for Tough Days

Self-love is not always easy, but it is essential for our well-being. When we love and care for ourselves, we are better equipped to face everyday challenges, and we are more capable of showing love and compassion toward others. On days when life feels especially tough, it’s often the hardest to do spiritual practices—but that’s when it’s the most important.

One way to cultivate self-love is through taking care of your physical vessel—from eating well to getting enough sleep. However, another powerful technique you can use to promote self-love is spell-casting. In this post, we share a simple self-love spell that you can use to soothe your heart and heal your energy body.

Step 1: Prepare your workspace and materials. Make sure to choose a quiet and peaceful place to cast your spell. Gather these materials: 

A pink candle (if you don't have pink, you can substitute white or green--the color of the Heart Chakra)

Rose petals or other favorite flowers

A piece of paper

A pen or pencil. 

You will have the option to burn the paper in step 5—so if you choose to do this, you will also need a fire-safe vessel, like a bowl of water or sand, that you can use to extinguish the paper.

Step 2: Light the pink candle and arrange the rose petals or flowers around it. As you do so, take deep breaths and focus on the flame. Allow yourself to feel the warmth and comfort radiating from it, and let that energy fill you up.

Step 3: Write your name on the piece of paper, and then write a list of things you love about yourself. Think about your accomplishments, your strengths, and your unique qualities. Don't be afraid to be specific or to take your time with this step. If you have a magical name or symbol that represents your best and highest self, write that down, too.

Sometimes when you’re feeling really low, it can be hard to think of positive things about yourself. If you’re really stumped, you can draw 2 or 3 cards from a Tarot deck to represent your best qualities, and use them for the purpose of this spell.

Step 4: Visualize yourself surrounded by a pink light, like a warm embrace. Envision the light filling every part of your being and radiating outwards. Take a moment to feel the love that surrounds you.

Step 5: Hold the paper with your list of things you love about yourself over the flame of the candle, and allow it to catch fire. (Fire safety is an important part of any spell—so if you don’t have a safe area to burn your paper, don’t! You can visualize it burning instead.)

As you hold the paper up to the flame, say the following words:

"I love and accept myself completely. I am worthy of love and respect. My heart is open to all the good that life has to offer."

Step 6: As the paper is illuminated in the candlelight, continue to visualize yourself surrounded by the pink light. Imagine this light becoming stronger and more vibrant, filling you up with love and healing energy. Continue to focus on this visualization for a few minutes.

Step 7: When you feel ready, extinguish the candle and take the remains of the flower petals and the paper or ashes outside. Remember to dispose of them responsibly—either by burying them or scattering them in a place where they won’t bother others or harm the environment.

The best time of day and moon phase to perform this spell is during the waxing moon, in the morning or afternoon/early evening. The waxing moon is a time of growth, abundance, and positivity, making it an ideal time for self-love spells. The morning and afternoon are energetic and productive times of the day, and their uplifting energies can enhance the effectiveness of your spell.

This self-love spell is simple yet powerful, and it can help you cultivate more love and acceptance for yourself. Remember that self-love takes practice and patience, and it requires ongoing inner work. However, by using spells, affirmations, and other self-care practices, you can make self-love a regular part of your life. With time and dedication, you can heal your heart, mend your energy body, and become a more loving and compassionate person towards yourself and others.
